1st Doctor Checkup

Elsie had her first scheduled doctors appointment today! Elsie weighs 7 lbs. 9.5 oz (38th percentile), is 19 inches long (31st percentile) her head circumference is 13.5 inches (23rd percentile). She is so healthy (and tiny :) )!

Elsie's belly button still had a foul smell. Her doctor decided to cauterize her umbilical cord. She used silver nitrate to remove her umbilical cord (it sounds WAY worse than it actually was), it looked like a long q-tip, that had the silver nitrate on it, and she rubbed it around the umbilical cord and it eventually came off. It left Elsie's belly button an ash-gray color, that will eventually rub off. Elsie did so good! She did cry, but of course at the end she was glad to get clothes on and be wrapped up in a blanket :) No more stinky umbilical cord! - Thank you Dr. Walker! We got home and Elsie slept for 3 1/2 hours (We had to wake her up to feed her). We LOVE our little Elsie!!!!

Elsie's belly button - post umbilical cord removal :) - Looks pretty good to me!!

Elsie fast asleep (cozy and warm) in her carseat after her first doctors appointment.
