April at the Christiansen's House

Elsie is a little girl.  She is so much fun!  She talks all day long!  I love that she can communicate with us now!  During April, Elsie's favorite thing to do was "take roll" she would always look around the room and name everyone that was in the room.  So fun.  She would say, "Where mommy? Right there.  Where Daddy?  Right there.  Where Ewsee?  Right here."  She would say all of this without letting us answer :)  She would do this ALL DAY LONG!!  In the car she would say "Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom...." I say, "Yes, Elsie."  She keeps saying "Mom. Mom..." then eventually will stop saying Mom and says, "Where mommy?"  Me, "Right here."  Elsie, "Right there."  She does this the entire time we are in the car :)  It is actually entertaining for awhile, but it eventually gets old :)  I have started letting Elsie answer the questions "strangers" ask her.  Like, "How old are you?" or "What's your name?"  It is pretty funny.  The other day my friend asked Elsie, "Elsie, do you want to come stay at my house?"  I looked at Elsie waiting for her to answer and Elsie looked at her, then at me, then she said, "No thank you."  It was so funny!!  I try teaching her manners.  Everyone loves a cute, polite little girl :)
Elsie would still rather drink milk than eat anything.  Some days she will eat, but most days she picks at her food and then later wants milk.  I haven't decided if it is worth the battle of "taking her off milk".  I know she will continue to drink it, but right now it is replacing her meals.  It is a battle I don't think I am ready to fight yet :)  She does still like eggs, toast, cereal (fruit loops - "froo-floops"), fruit, chicken, fries, steak, potatoes, pasta these are her favorites, but even then, she is picky when she will eat them :)  Oh, well.  All she needs is one good meal a day and for her mother to remember that she won't let herself starve :).....right?
Elsie loves to dress up.  Whether it is my clothes and shoes, her own clothes or Macy's dressups.  I need to get her some of her own, I just haven't done it yet.
Elsie has quite the imagination when it comes to playing with her toys.  I love hearing her play with them and mimick the things we say to her each day.  She plays with her small toys all the time!  She has a toy minivan she puts her toys in and out of all day!  She is pretty creative.
Elsie is my little shadow, my "little buddy".  I love it!  She follows me around all day long.
Elsie has started to "not like the camera".  Everytime I get out the camera, she runs from me or turns around or puts her face down, anything so I don't take a picture of her.  It drives me crazy, but I did still manage to get a few cute ones in :)  I can't wait for this phase to end :)  I did realize that in 2011 I took over 7,000 pictures - that's over 500 pictures a month!!!  Pretty sure most of them were all of this girl!

Playing dressups!  I couldn't get her to look at the camera, so I told her to look at herself in the mirror :)

She knows she's cute!

"Sprinkles!!"

We went to Sand Hollow for the evening with our friends and had dinner.  It was a lot of fun.  It took awhile for Elsie to get comfortable touching the sand, but she eventually did get dirty :)
I tried piggy tails in Elsie's hair.  It looked cute, but it was a lot harder to do and didn't look any cuter than it does the other way I style it :)  Needless to say, this was the only day I did piggy tails :)

"Jameez"

Love her sweet face in this picture :)

LOVE THIS PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Macy came over early one morning.  They played in their jammies, and ate breakfast - they both loved it!!

I was trying to get Elsie to cuddle with me this afternoon, and she didn't want anything to do with me.  Josh was already asleep and she laid on his arm and fell asleep :)

A cookie right after her nap :)
She still looks pretty tired :)

Swim Lessons!
We did swim lessons for 2 weeks at the indoor pool.  It was Mon-Thurs for 2 weeks.  It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun.  Elsie did swim lessons with 3 of our friends.  She loved swimming everyday!  She did really well and actually made some improvements.  She already loved the water, but it taught her to blow out of her mouth and to not swallow the water, it also taught her to float on her back.  She loved it!!  It was $30 well spent!
A close-up of Elsie's curls
Me, "Elsie do you have curly hair or straight hair?"
Elsie, "Str-ate ha'ir."  So funny!
Me, "No.  You have curly hair."
Elsie, "Curly, curly, curly" ...giggle.  Everytime :)

Elsie woke up one morning and asked for a popsicle for breakfast.
I figured...why not?
Not to mention the fact that her popsicle matches her shirt :)

Waiting in line to ride the merry-go-round.

YAY!!!

She giggles the entire time she rides this :)

A walk to the temple.
We did this on a Sunday afternoon and the next Sunday as we were driving to church and passed the temple, Elsie said, "Mom.  Walk temple.  Member?"  She remembers a lot of things that surprise me.  I LOVE her!  I also love that we live so close to a temple.  We are so blessed in so many ways!!

Another trip to the splashpad :)
I love this outfit!
I finally got her to smile, but she is still moving, I can't have both

They are so funny together!

I LOVE THIS GIRL!!!!!!
I took her to the bathroom to change her diaper during Sacrament Meeting one Sunday and I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of her...they all turned out SO CUTE!!!
I don't think we could ever thank Amanda enough for blessing our lives!  Every day, I look at Elsie and I realize what a blessing it is to be HER mom!  I am the luckiest mom in the world!  Thank you Amanda!  We love every minute of parenting you have blessed our lives with!!!

Easter Weekend

It was a lot of fun to have Lili with us this year for Easter.  We kicked off the weekend by coloring eggs Thursday evening.  It was a lot of fun!  Elsie loved it!  She kept saying, "eggs. waTer." it was a ton of fun!  Then Friday we went to Mesquite with Cole and his family.  It was a good time.  We were pretty relaxed and just hung out.  It was a fun, relaxing weekend.

Coloring Eggs :)

This was Friday morning, I love the way she is holding onto everything so tightly as she watches cartoons :)

Our 4wheeler ride in Mesquite

Cole rode his dirtbike.

Lili got a little bit of dirt in her hair :)
Gross.

I love that we are so "ghetto"  We stayed in Cole's trailer under the Virgin River sign.
It was free and we used the hotel's swimming pool :)
We are as "ghetto" as they come - and we are proud of it!!!
Bad Mother-of-the-Year Award goes to me!
We had just gotten back from our 4wheeler ride and we were getting ready to go to dinner, I had changed Elsie's clothes and turned around to unzip my suitcase and grab my flipflops, but before I even got my suitcase unzipped, Elsie fell out the trailer door.  Her forehead hit first.  It was SO SAD!!  Elsie was so brave.  It wasn't really bleeding, but she cried for about a minute or so, and one of the kids came up to her and asked her if she had an owie (of course referring to the ginormous scrapes on her face) and Elsie immediately stopped crying and showed them her small scrape/scab on her elbow that happened over a week before this.  She had no idea her face was scraped up.  So sad!

Hanging out :)

Climbing on the railing :)

Elsie and Ryley.  I wish I would have gotten Ryley's cute face in this too.

She was very concerned about the water on her shoes.

Getting ready for the Easter Egg Hunt!
Picking up eggs :)
The rest of the day Saturday we went swimming.  I forgot my camera.  Oops.  It was a lot of fun to just hang out and do nothing :)....except chase the cutest 2 year old I know around!  We were going to stay in Mesquite another night, but we decided to come home.  I thought we might have confused the Easter Bunny with our notes but the Easter Bunny ended up finding us ......
